Edad de jubilación en España

Those workers who have thought retire throughout this 2018 collecting 100% of their pensions, but who have not reached the necessary 38 and a half years, will have as an essential requirement to have fulfilled the 65 years and six months, which is the
minimum retirement age in Spain,
as marked by the last pension reform of 2011.

A reform that established a period from 2013 to 2027, in which the retirement age in Spain will progressively increase, reaching its maximum in 2027, when it will be necessary to have reached the age of 67 to be able to access retirement.

In this way, while in 2018 it will be necessary to have reached 65 years and six months to retire,in 2019 the age will rise to 65 years and 8 months, in 2020 to 65 years and 10 months, thus continuing until reaching the maximum of 67 years in 2027.

This means that all those people who were born after 1948, would be affected by this progressive increase, while those born after 1960 could not retire in any case before the age of 67,except in those cases in which they have 38 and a half years of Social Security contributions.

It should also be noted that since 2013, the period for
calculating
the retirement pension has been gradually increased from 15 to 25 years. In this way, in 2018 the benefit will be calculated based on the last 21 years contributed.

From AYCE Laborytax we are aware of the confusion generated by all the changes related to the retirement age in Spain. That is why we wanted to take advantage of this post to review the most important issues that you must take into account.

What should you keep in mind to retire in 2018?

Minimum of 15 years quoted

All those workers who have reached the age of 65 years and six months, and have a minimum of 15 years of social security contributions, may receive up to 50% of the corresponding pension.

Each year of additional contribution will increase the percentage received by 0.2 points per month.

Thus, the only possibility currently to be able to enjoy 100% of the pension is to have contributed 35 and a half years.

Minimum of 21 years quoted

If you meet the necessary conditions to receive a retirement benefit, you should know that in 2018 the amount will be calculated on the amount contributed to Social Security during the last 21 years. A figure that will increase in 2022 to the age of 25.

Here we must bear in mind that the Government, with the intention of lowering pensions, introduces another corrective element that focuses on accounting for all the months contributed, and dividing them by a lower number.

Experts say that the period to calculate the contribution could cover the entire working life in the future, raising the number of years to 35 or even 40.

Pension

aumento-pensiones-2018

Since January 1, 2018,pensions in Spain have increased by 0.25%, which means that they have chained five consecutive years increasing the minimum established by legality.

A legality that is based on the revaluation formula that was introduced with the last pension reform, which covers both the expensesand the income of the system itself, establishing a minimum of 0.25% for the increase, and a maximum ceiling of the CPI plus 0.50%.

With this increase, the maximum retirement pension

that can be received in 2018 in Spain will be 2,580 euros. An amount that increases 6.40 euros compared to 2017.

Self-employed pensioners

In the case of those people who have contributed under the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA), the maximum contribution base will remain at 3 751.2 euros per month, while the minimum base will be at 919.8 euros.

The situation changes with the corporate self-employed,who will see the minimum base increased by 4%.

This is because the extension of the public accounts for 2017 has made it not possible for the minimum base, which until now was linked to the evolution of the SMI (professional minimum wage), to be linked to the General Budgets, as established in the Law on Urgent Reforms of the Self-Employed Worker.

conclusion

In summary, if you were planning to retire in 2018, you should bear in mind that the
retirement age in Spain
has increased to 65 years and six months,as long as you do not have 35 and a half years of Social Security contributions.
