The Treasury has launched a new version of its website, which unifies the information portal and the electronic headquarters, with the aim of facilitating navigation and management of procedures for the taxpayer, and adapting to the information age. It is already operational, but it will coexist during the next six months with the two previous versions, which will disappear definitively at the end of the year.

In order to adapt to new digital trends and facilitate the procedures of taxpayers, the AEAT has renewed its website, which now unifies the information portal and the electronic headquarters, and has a more modern, simple and intuitive design.

The address of the new website of the AEAT is“www.sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es”,but, during the next six months the new website will coexist with the two previous addresses, www.agenciatributaria.es and www.agenciatributaria.gon.es. From autumn, these two directions will take a back seat, being definitively suppressed at the end of the year.

With more than 140 million unique users and more than 600 million visits, the Tax Agency wanted to wait for the end of the Income Tax campaign to launch its new website, with the aim of avoiding confusion among taxpayers.

In any case, taxpayers may continue to access the new website of the AEAT without having to modify anything, through their electronic certificate (essential to carry out any administrative procedure) or the Cl@ve PIN system.

News of the new website of the AEAT

New URL

As we have mentioned, with the new website of the AEAT changes the URL,which becomes www.sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es. But, during a maximum transitional period of six months from the publication of the new website in the BOE (July 14, 2021), the two previous addresses will continue to be available.

Unification of the information portal and the electronic headquarters of the AEAT

On the other hand, to facilitate navigation and management of all tax obligations, the new Website of the Treasury unifies the information portal and the electronic headquarters, which will have a simpler and more intuitive design, and will have explanations and descriptions prior to access to the different procedures.

Likewise, the new website of the Tax Agency improves its search engine, thus facilitating the location of the informative contents and the procedures to be carried out.

Until now, many freelancers and SMEs had problems filing their returns, since the portals had become quite outdated, complicated to use and generated multiple headaches.

And, from now on, all updates and procedures related to procedures or services of the AEAT can be carried out through the same website.

Three big sections on the homepage

When entering the new website, the home page will have three main sections:

  1. Block of contents that will be modified over time, and will have the most relevant statements and the most significant notices of each moment.
  2. Block with the most relevant procedures used by taxpayers, grouped into financial categories: filing of returns, electronic registration, prior appointment, payments and deferrals, notifications sent by the Agency.
  3. Block with direct access to the different procedures and informative contents, composed of 16 topics that segment access to information and web procedures as follows:
  • For taxes (Personal Income Tax, VAT, Companies and others).
  • By profiles of taxpayers (entrepreneurs, companies, citizens, travelers and non-residents).
  • By subject (customs, vehicles and housing).
  • By the type of procedure (informative declarations, collaboration, censuses and debts).

On the other hand, at the top of the home page will appear the current information (news, press releases and statistics), and at the bottom shortcuts to subjects of interest,as well as a section of manuals, videos and brochures.

In addition, it will maintain a final block with the legal and security notices, the “Contact Us” and “Help” pages, the date of update of the page and other links of interest.

In this way, the new website of the AEAT, which arrives to facilitate the procedures of taxpayers, with a simpler design and unifying the information portal and the electronic headquarters, will coexist during the next six months with the two previous versions, which can continue to be entered to be informed or to manage any type of procedure.
